Dear Parents and Sponsors,
As the 2008/2009 school year closes I would like to leave you with some important data and information. Enclosed is a copy of your student’s proposed schedule for next school year and this year’s report card.
Mr. Tim Erickson will be the new principal of Osan American MS/HS with Ms. Truly Schramm as his assistant.
The school office will be open during the summer from 0800 to1600. Registration packets are available hard copy. Please consult the Korea DSO website for required paperwork that can be down loaded if you would like to bring your completed paperwork to our office. You may make an appointment to see our counselors.
A transition counselor will be available for students schedule planning on Thursdays from 0930-1500. The contact number is 723-3712. On August 13, our school counselors will be on duty.
On Thursdays, our host nation teacher will be available to talk to incoming families in our teachers lounge. The teacher will provide cultural information and answer questions so families new to Korea can better understand this culture. From June 30 to July 31, 2008 the host nation teacher will offer a free Korean Summer School for community members who would like to learn Hangul, the language of Korea. Please call 784-9098/9096 to sign up or to get more information.
Families new to our community should make it a point to check in with the Teen Center on base. A representative of Far East University is selecting students to spend an overnight at the university in order to meet Korean students and get acquainted with the wonders of the country. Important Dates:
- August 25, 2008 @ 1400 New Parent and Student Orientation in the Auditorium
- August 22, 2008 PTSO Sponsored Ice Cream Social from 1300-1600
- Student schedules and locker assignments provided in the auditorium
- Activity Sponsors and students discuss school activities in the school cafeteria.
- S2S students provide a tour of the school.
- September 10, 2008 Mr. Menniti, Superintendent of Korea Schools, will meet with parents of students from OAES and OAMS/HS in a Town Hall Meeting from 1700-1800 in the OAMS/HS auditorium.
